Over the past few years it seems like up-and-coming artists are leaning towards and respecting the art of sampling, bringing a nostalgic feel amidst the chaos of viral one-shots and gimmicks. Saying that, being able to execute it in a way that doesn’t feel forced is a talent that not everyone can grasp. Turning the heads of many with his latest rap cruiser, ‘OK THEN’, a seamless a take on the art, is East Midland’s newcomer Jordeaux.
Sampling ‘Lost in a Lonely World’ by The Ethics, Jordeaux embodies the UK’s inner cities with his sharp cadence and skilful lyricism, delivering a charismatic track that boasts a laid-back demeanour and promising artistry. Paired alongside a one-take visual alongside director LADICAL, we watch as the London-based rapper sits comfortably in a council block whilst chaos unravels around him. Citing household names including J.Cole and Tyler, The Creator as artists who have aided in shaping his sound today, it’s clear ‘OK THEN’ is just the start of what’s yet to come.
After his dreams of becoming a professional athlete fell through his fingers, he found hope and meaning in music. Scrolling through beats on YouTube and eventually finding one that set his creativity alight, he later moved to the Capital to work on his craft. Networking with creatives alike, Jordeaux has been honing on his style and created a sound that’s got people talking.
