The days of festivals, BBQs and excessive lager drinking seem long gone but culture is certainly getting us through these slightly duller times. NIA ARCHIVES DROPS NEW JUNGLE HEATER "BAIANÁ"
Considered a dubplate by many over the summer, Nia Archives has finally released "Bainá": a Brasiliero-inspired track that samples the similarly titled Barbatuques single. The music video is filmed over in Brasil, displaying a selection of happy locals dancing on top of favelas, playing football and chess, among other things. Watch it below.
ROME STREETZ DROPS KISS THE RING MERCH
Signing to Griselda back in 2021, Rome Streetz has simultaneously ascended from the murky streets of NYC and into the mainstream conscience of hiphop fans around the world. His album, “Kiss the ring”, which comes out today, is one of the most highly anticipated rap albums of the year and to celebrate its release, AwakeNY dropped a capsule of t-shirts and hoodies.
CLINTS CONTINUE THEIR WINNING STREAK WITH NY COLLECTION
On Sunday, Manchester-based, and founded, brand Clints is releasing their New York-inspired capsule collection. The signature leather jacket is a standout piece, and will undoubtedly hug the bodies of fashion fanatics throughout winter. Contrast stitching cargos and crew neck jumpers are also set to drop on their website and in-store.
99GINGER AND PLACES PLUS FACES ANNOUNCE EXCLUSIVE PARIS FASHION WEEK PARTY
Everyone’s favourite French collective is teaming up with Places Plus Faces for an ultra-exclusive Paris fashion week show. If you’ve got an invite, great! And if you don’t, like us, you’ll have to bare seeing it plastered over people’s socials this weekend. Chaz Bear (BKA Toro Y Moi) is DJing, among others.
MOUNT KIMBIE RETURN WITH DOUBLE ALBUM ANNOUNCEMENT
On Tuesday Mount Kimbie revealed they would be dropping a double album on November 4th. MK 3.5: Die Cuts | City Planning will comprise one album from each of the pair, representing a new approach from the artists. Check out the two double-side teasers for an idea of what’s to come.
PRINTWORKS IN TALKS TO REOPEN AFTER 2022 CLOSURE
Last year we learned that Printworks was set to shut down for good. The 6000-capacity venue has held a special place in the hearts of UK clubbers after opening in 2017, and its closure would be a devastating loss. This week it was revealed, however, that there may be hope; the organisers are apparently in ‘detailed talks’ to secure the club’s future. It is still set to close for a few years in 2023, but, all being well, will return after a facelift.
Rinse FM releasing UK Funky compilation vinyl
Love UK Funky? Get yourself over to Rinse FM. The radio station has just announced the pressing of a 10-track limited-edition UK Funky vinyl… and it’s red. The vinyl will include classic UK Funky tracks from the likes of Lil Silva, Katy B and DJ Naughty. The release is part of a Funky frenzy over at Rinse – their ‘I Love: Funky’ event happens on 15th October.
